Finish for Zisis; Moreover, Muscular Misfortune Means Milan Misses Match

Iason Zisis bows out of this year’s EiPSI Open, citing timing constraints. After consultation with his physician, also his intended replacement Milan Petkovic decides not to play, meaning Stan Korzilius is now the second player to go through to the semi-finals.

This walkover means that Stan is the only player left in the draw who is still unbeaten at Fellenoord after his win in 2012 and absence in 2013. Petkovic, the only player to reach the semi-finals on all previous occasions, was set to replace Iason Zisis, but unfortunately decided that a fourth go at the EiPSI crown would endanger his ongoing recovery from a tennis elbow.

Meanwhile, rumour has it that a miscommunication about the tournament dates is be behind Zisis’ entry-then-de-entry, which will be a boon to people critical about the organisation of this year’s Open.
